Track 2008 theme tune competition

petef's picture

I thought it'd be good fun if we came up with a theme song for this year's Track...could be used in the video/evening meetings/whatever... any ideas?

Here's mine so far:

  • My Life Flashed Before my Eyes - The Cribs
  • Be Safe - The Cribs
  • Fields of Gold - Sting
  • Fuel - Metallica
  • The Memory Remains - Metallica
  • Insomnia - Faithless
  • Dazed & Confused - Led Zepplin
  • Long Hot Summer - The Style Council
  • Don't you worry 'bout a thing - Incognito
  • Aerodynamic - Daft Punk

There, I think that's enough for now. Over to you...

J Team

imagine the a team beginning

Original

In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angles underground. Today still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find, maybe you can hire…. The A-team

New and Improved???

In 2008 a crack commando unit of Christians were exiled in Norfolk for a crimes against fashion. These people promptly equipped themselves with all the tools needed for a week with teenagers. Today they are wanted by all the christian agencies but they survive as leaders for Scripture Union. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find, maybe you can hire…. The J-team.

 What do you think??????

:o)  haha...you beat me to

:o)

haha...you beat me to it James! Spot on intro! I'll have a hunt around for the sound track without the voice over so we can do our own version.

CAN I BE FACE PLS???!!! Always wanted to fly a helicopter...hmmm there's a song in there somewhere isn't there?

"All I want to do...hmmm...hmmm dobeedoo da.."

rachel green's picture

Think you must mean Murdoch

Think you must mean Murdoch - he was the one that was the pilot. Face was the smooth, charmer man!

jbatterbee's picture

He wants his cake and all that!!

Pete is far too young to remember the A team first time around.

He was always the extra from a Boy band growing up and always had all the ladies chasing him!!

I was very jealous!!! Not that I'm bitter!

So on that front he is more like Face.

He is also slightly mental so Mad Murdoch fits well.

Maybe we could have a vote???

James

I'm happy to run off

I'm happy to run off against Pete as either Face or Murdoch......let the leaders decide which is which!! I think I might win on the slightly mental front.......

I'm giggling here.... We

I'm giggling here....

We can work on the final wording all together at Letton, perhaps someone can find the original intro on You Tube? We should all be familiar with that I feel.

Plus we need to get the phrases all the A Team used and kind of change them too.....special prize for Biblical references to go with them!

I'll bring plenty of cardboard so we can turn the Scamp into a black van with red stripe....I think we may have to get all the young people involved in the filming....like calling out for help in a field with the van charging to the rescue and as many team as we can fit in it bursting out....

Theme tune

  • A Team theme tune
  • Insomnia - Faithless
  • I predict a riot - Kaiser Chiefs
  • Here comes the Sun - Beatles
Cheryl's picture

Great minds....

Seems two of us have suggested 'I predict a riot'

Good thinking batman, tho liking the A team idea!

Mike J's picture

The A team......or maybe the J team??

Now I like this idea......Moses as Mr T.......can I be the skinny mastermind guy?? Surely we can cardboard mock the Scamp up as the van for a video intro to shoot on the Saturday?? Or maybe Mark as Mr T....ooooh, the possibilities are endless!!!

Tony G playing the start of the theme tune on his trumpet as a wake up call each morning....and it just has to be the intro to the DVD for 2008, complete with van falling apart and the team jumping out!!

......mmmm but General Lee kicks butt.......what was the Dukes of Hazzard tune like? Can't remember it so was probably rubbish.

petef's picture

yee haaarrr

Dukes of Hazzard theme was a bit naff...A team rocks better! Crazy fool! A Team Theme!!!!

sturgjoh's picture

Mmmm

Pete, are you getting old?

I think we'll have to review this list.

petef's picture

Me? old?! never! What would

Me? old?! never! What would that make Mike? :p

Okay perhaps not a theme tune, but songs with titles that are apt for The Track! Just for fun!

Mike J's picture

A real oldie!!

Yellow - The Race.......plus each speaker has to do a dance thing to it when they come to the front!!

Mark's picture

The top ten Petrol head songs

Surely Queen I'm in love with my car gets a look in somewhere?

"Told my girl I'd have to forget her rather buy me a new carburettor"

A classic petrol head line!

Or Madness "I like driving in my car" ?

Mike J's picture

Queen lyrics.....

er, not all of I'm in love with my car might be suitable Mark!! The references to pistons, grease gun and gears are all a bit suggestive!!??

Not that I wish to edit Queen out of Track!

Bonus link

Bonus link into the relationships talk as well you mean??????!!!!!!!!!

I can see this one going down a very slippery slope!

Getting Old

I know I'm getting old (so's John - he's 30 today - Happy Birthday John (Had to get that on the web-site somehow!)) but most of the songs you've all mentioned are ones I don't know - I may if I heard them - but shouldn't it be a tune that the young people have some chance of knowing and linking it with a driving theme? I know we've used tunes in the past and the link with cars/racing etc has been lost on the young people as they don't know the name of the tune or may not even have heard it before....

Do any of the leaders under 25 have any ideas of tunes?!!!!

James Wallace's picture

I now this isn't very

I now this isn't very helpful, but as a leader under 25, I have no idea about tunes!  I think it would be helpful for the theme tune to be recognisable for the young people, but in a way, an unfamilar one might actually work better if we keep playing it, as that way they would associate the tune with The Track and it would become familiar by the end of the week.  If we use something that's already familiar to them, they're already likely to associate it with something.

Mike J's picture

getting really old.....

Ooh Diane, you don't know just how long ago my 30th seems to me.....OK, before anyone else jumps in it was 16 years ago....so it seems a long 16 years!

I expect those with MP3 and IPOD things will have zillions of tracks that might be suitable, so could check that out at Track if nothing else appears.

Anyway, what do you mean, never heard of Queen......that is really not acceptable in my eyes! Well, OK I like their early stuff which dates back to the 70s.......its not quite in the history curriculum yet!...is it?!

GronyTeen's picture

70s = history

Just because you were almost born in the 50s :-) and there's a good number of us born in the 60s... just think that the YP coming this year were born in the 90s - of course they won't remember Queen, or Madness, or Wham, or Duran Duran... they'll probably won't even know Micheal Jackson... They would have really only listed to music from the 2000's - so you'd be looking for music from the last five years, and if it's not this year, would probably be seen as 'old' anyway...

Personally I'm not into 'theme' tunes, but if you're going to have one does it have to be one that the YP have heard of before? There is some great stuff out there... it would also be good if the music group could play it too..

looking at the lis, there's only three artists I've heard off... two of which isn't must sort of music :-)

What about something from the 'Blues Brothers' :-)

Mark's picture

Given this sort of logic

Given this sort of logic whatever we use will be old in 5 or so years anyway!

Having never really been into New and Improved prefering more Old and Original (yes that is a compliment Mike!). Why dont we go for something from Charles Wesley:

Long my Petroleum Spirit lay

Fast bound in cans in Dolphin Court.

Mine eye diffused a quicker way

I rose the Petrol flamed with light

My chains fell off

My Kart was free

I suppose I'll come forth

In Friday's Grand Prix!

GronyTeen's picture

very funny :-)

you made me laugh.... I like you're thinking...

Diane's picture

Are we any further on?

As we're not agreeing on any tunes at the moment, why don't we come with a tune or two to camp and play them the first evening we're there and decide then? It's all very well suggesting songs but if some of us have never heard them before it may be easier to hear them and then make a decision. Will there be time to fit this in on the Saturday or Sunday before the young people arrive?

Mike J's picture

Are we nearly there yet?

Are we nearly there yet?

Well, probably not but August is getting closer!!

I agree with Diane, and I'm sure we can have a listen to a few tracks Sat night and maybe decide Sunday morning. Would be quite happy to open evening meeting each night with our theme tune, assuming we manage to choose one!

Cheryl's picture

Not under 25 but......

I do happen to own one of those MP4 thingys, but my music knowledge isn't great. However I have a husband who has an extremely large and eclectic music collection so will ask him to bring some tunes.

How about 'I predict a Riot' by the Kaiser Chiefs?

petef's picture

I predict a riot

haha, good choice!
