Mike you did say that leaders who compete should post their results so here you are!
Last weekend Thunderchilds paternal grandfather the Moke was dusted off to compete in the non other than the Hartlepool and District Motor Club AutoSolo. These are like an autotest but all forwards and longer sections and the car has to be road legal.so a bit like a single venue small tarmac rally stage!
The result, out of 25 entries, I was 3rd overall and class winner of the Historic class ( thats for the car not the driver )
and Pauline was 7th overall and 1st lady!
It was good to know that although the karting days may be over we can still cut the mustard at local motorsport and use a 41 year old car to beat the likes of Lotus Exiges, Caterham 7's, Sierra Cosworths, TVR Chimera etc. In fact I was only beaten by another Mini and a Renault Clio! So get your finger out Derek and get that Clio out for a lap of the Track they're seriously quick ( ok so this one was rally prepared as was the Mini, but hey! ).

Results
Well, this is not really in the same league as Mark & Paulines' autotest but last week I had a call from my previous boss with an umissable offer. He was supposed to be entertaining a client at the Jonathan Palmer race school at the Bedford Aerodrome but had damaged his back so couldn't make it. Needless to say, I jumped at the offer (£1000, all paid for!) and went down to Bedford. There were about 60 of us and we were split into 3 teams to drive various cars on different circuits including Jag XKR, Porche 911, Caterham superlight, Clio Cup racer, Formular Jaguar single seaters and Jaguar Le Mans style cars (to see the cars go to www.palmersport.com) and Karts and Land Rovers. You compete against the clock (even though you share track time and race each other) and get your results at the end of the day in a prizegiving. I won the trophy for the fastest Clio Cup racer which I was really chuffed with and was the quickest driver from the team in both the Karts and the Caterhams. I want to go back and try it again now because I know I can do better with some of the other cars! I think it would be a great team building day........I'm sure SU would pay for us!!
Regards to all,
Adrian
Thou shalt not covet!
Not in the same league I'll say! Still thou shalt not covet they neighbours day out at Palmersport and all that. I bet you would have been even quicker in a Moke though!
Yes I'm sure SU would love to contribute to some quality leader training and this looks like just what we NEED!
...(un)official SU response.....
what a super idea chaps, how about £1 per head from SU funds......
However, if you want to get driven really, really, fast, Christians in Motorsport driver Martin Rich is doing a charity day in an Ascari European GT spec car
He says....""".OK guys .. here's a very rare opportunity to come to Snetterton and have a passenger ride in the GT3 Ascari KZ1R race car with me driving!
